VND 137,000 billion for public investment projects - Website Ho Chi Minh City
On April 21, under chairmanship of Chairwoman of HCMC People’s Council Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, the 21st session of the 13th Municipal People’s Council was held. In a single day, many important contents related to development of HCMC have been considered.
Specifically, in 2016-2020, the city will implement 1,277 public investment projects worth VND 137,000 billion. Of which, most projects will focus on reducing traffic congestion and accidents, accounting for 36, 6% of the capital, other projects aim to improve human resource quality (18, 5%), reducing flooding (14, 5%), and some other projects
Delegates of People’s Council will give their views on projects of Group A using the city’s budget of VND 2,500 billion, submitting Decision on investment policy to HCMC People’s Council for approving 301 projects of Group B using VND 88,300 billion from the city’s budget, other 12 public investment projects using VND 6,250 billion will be submitted, etc.
According to HCMC People’s Committee, based on ability of mobilizing the city’s budget revenue in 2016-2020, it is expected that the balance resource for mid-term investment plan will reach VND 107,000 billion, up 1,5% compared to 2011-2015. In addition, depending on upcoming actual situation, if there is participation of non-state economic components, the city will convert investment projects into form of investment without using the city’s budget (PPP, etc.)
Regarding to clean water, a total 370,000 households are lacking of clean water. In addition, underground water quality fails to meet the standards stipulated by Ministry of Health, etc. Therefore, HCMC People’s Committee has implemented many solutions such as development of 1,228km pipeline, installing 141 water meters, constructing and upgrading 28 water supply stations, installing 1,500 water tanks and 137,000 household water filtering equipment. The work has addressed the need of clean water for 117,000 households.
