Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong holds talks with Governor of Xiangkhouang - Website Ho Chi Minh City
On the afternoon of March 28, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong held talks with Governor of Xiangkhouang (Lao) province Mangnomek Somkot.
Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong highly appreciated the working visit of the the delegation of XiangKhouang to HCMC, saying the visit would further promote traditional relation, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Lao PDR which have been built by leaders and people of both countries’ Parties.
Mr. Phong stressed that the city’s leaders always pay a special attention to special and traditional cooperation relations with Xiangkhouang.
He highly valued Xiangkhouang province’s socio-economic achievements in the past time with an annual average income of US$ 1,500 per capita, twice as much as of 2012. Mr. Phong said HCMC and Xiangkhouang still not outline specific cooperation projects nor exploit both sides’ development potential. He suggested Mr. Somkot Mangnomek to create favorable conditions for both sides to strengthen cooperation. Specifically, both localities should create favorable conditions for departments, agencies and businesses to strengthen cooperation in fields of infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, trade, etc. sharing experience in promoting high quality cattle raising models, providing consultancy and support services to agricultural enterprises.
For his part, Mr. Mangnomek Somkot highly appreciated HCMC’s achievements in recent years, saying these are driving forces for Xiangkhouang province to develop. He stressed that Vietnam-Lao PDR traditional cooperation relation is a typical one in the world. He thanked the city’s Party, authorities, people and leaders for its support to Xiangkhouang, especially in fields of agriculture, education, trade, etc.
After the talks, HCMC Department of Culture-Sports and Tourism and Xiangkhouang Department of Information, Culture and Tourism signed a MOU on bilateral cooperation in fields of library and museum.
