Chairman Nguyen Phong received Swedish business delegation - Website Ho Chi Minh City
In the evening of September 21, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Phong received Governor of Uppsala County of Sweden in a visit to seek investment cooperation opportunities in HCMC.
At the reception, Chairman Phong briefly introduced the city’s socio-economic development situations. He said that the city is now facing many challenges in the process of urban development such as environment, climate change, infrastructure, etc. It is a policy of HCMC to call for foreign investment, including Sweden, especially Uppsala County in fields of education, environment, hi-tech sectors, etc.
“It is a commitment of HCMC to accompany, create favorable conditions for international investors, including those from Sweden to seek cooperation opportunities with the city”, said Mr. Phong.
Highly appreciated the training quality of universities in Uppsala, Chairman Phong emphasized that the city is looking forward to becoming a financial-scientific & technological center of the region, therefore, it is now in need of high-quality human resource to meet development requirements. HCMC highly valued the cooperation programs of University of Uppsala with those in Vietnam. Mr. Phong expressed his hope that The University of Uppsala, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and Universities in HCMC will strengthen cooperation to turn opportunities into specific actions, to improve quality of human resource for the city.
For his part, Governor Stig Goran Enander highly appreciated the economic growth and development orientation of HCMC, saying enterprises of Uppsala County are willing to share experience and to support HCMC in fields of environment, information & communications, applied sciences, and creative start-up.
Besides, enterprises of Uppsala county hope Vietnam in general and HCMC in particular will strengthen cooperation in fields of both sides’ strength such as creative innovation, hi-tech, smart solution serving the goal of sustainable development.
