Works start on Tham Luong-Ben Cat wastewater treatment plant

April 26, Vice Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Tin attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Tham Luong- Ben Cat wastewater treatment project (Phase 1) at An Phu Dong Ward, District 12. The project is co-invested by HCMC Anti-flooding Program Operation Center and Phu Dien Construction-Investment and Trading JSC.

The plant has a total capacity of 131,000m3/day and night, when completed, it will benefit 700,000 people in an area of 2,058 hectares in Go Vap, Binh Thanh Districts and District 12. The plant will reduce water pollution at Tham Luong canal, Vam Thuat river and Saigon river.

The plant is automatically operated with remote control system, using active mud biotechnology. Product after being processed meet criteria A.

The plant is expected to upgrade to a capacity of 250,000 m3/day & night (Phase 2) with total investment capital of VND 1,868 billion in 19 months.

The project is a part of  a project on drainage and pollution monitoring for Tham Luong-Ben Cat-Rach Nuoc Len canal approved by Prime Minister dated August 13, 2004. It is also a part of a master plan of water drainage system till 2020 approved by Prime Minister dated June 2001.
