A ceremony celebrating the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relationship establishment between Vietnam and Switzerland was held at the Swiss Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on July 7.
In attendance was Deputy chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem, Swiss Ambassador Beatrice Maser Mallor and Swiss Consul General Othmar Hardegger.
The country will continue implementing the commitments on providing official development assistance for Vietnam to improve the business environment, enhance competitiveness and build environment-friendly infrastructures, the ambassador emphasized.
Two-way trade hit US$ 1.53 billion in 2015. Switzerland is running more than 100 projects in Vietnam with the total investment capital of over US$ 2 billion, being the fourth largest European investor in Vietnam, according to Consul General Othmar Hardegger.
Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem said the local government will collaborate with the Swiss Embassy and Consulate General to implement effectively bilateral programs and projects, contributing to strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
