Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thu receives outgoing Chief Representative of UNICEF in Vietnam

In Sep 7, Vice Chairwoman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thu received the outgoing Chief Representative of United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in Vietnam Youssouf Abdel Jelil in a visit to bid farewell.

At the reception, Mrs. Thu highly valued important contributions of Mr. Youssouf Abdel Jelil through his initiatives and activities for children’s rights, building HCMC into a worth living place. She highly appreciated his dedication and of UNICEF Vietnam to effectively carry out the model of friendly city with children in HCMC and other 7 cities and provinces nationwide under cooperation programs of UNICEFVietnam in the period of 2012-2016. 

Mr. Youssouf Abdel Jelil thanked the city for its support and expressed his belief that his follower will continue maintaining cooperation projects with HCMC. He highly appreciated the fact that the city has implemented the Project of Child Friendly City". Mr. Youssouf Abdel Jelil expressed his hope that cooperation in fields of creative urban development with HCMC will open more opportunities for children, hoping the city continues to improve social services and establish child focused unit to provide effective public services to children, especially migrant children, disabled children and minors.

He affirmed that at any position, he always loves Vietnam and HCMC, saying he will support the effective cooperation between Vietnam and UNICEF. On this occasion, on behalf of the city’s leaders, Mrs. Thu has awarded the city’s Badge to Mr. Youssouf Abdel Jelil in recognition of his positive contributions to protect children’s rights in Vietnam and in general and HCMC in particular.
