In his brief introduction of socio-economic development of HCMC, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong said with an increasing population plus limited energy capability, the city focuses on calling for investment in renewable energy sector, application of IT in traffic organizations to solve traffic congestion. With available strengths of US enterprises, HCMC is calling for US investors to invest in fields of environment, water drainage and supply, construction of smart city.

Mr. Phong added once the TPP comes into effect, the city will receive a new wave of US investment. As a driving force of the whole country, HCMC commits to accompany and create favorable conditions for US investors.

Beside achieved results, Mr. Arun Kumar said US-HCMC cooperation relation is still modest compared with available potential. He added many US enterprises are paying more special attention to investment cooperation in HCMC, he expressed his hope that both sides will implement many specific cooperation programs to create new breakthroughs for US-Vietnam cooperation relation.

According to Arun Kumar, the model of smart city has been developed in many countries around the world due to its benefits, especially in energy and environment, saying US is ready for sharing its experience and cooperating with HCMC in the fields of the city’s concern and strengthening cooperation in the coming time.
