Phillips Exeter Academy (PEA)’s acclaimed Concert Choir and Chamber Orchestra will make a 14-day tour of Vietnam in celebrating the 20th anniversary of the normalisation of the US – Vietnam diplomatic relations, according to the US embassy in Hanoi.
The ensembles will partner with musicians and vocalists from the Vietnam National Academy of Music and the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music to perform concerts of classical Western music and Vietnamese folk songs.
They have also prepared two Vietnamese folk songs, “Trong Com” and “Ly Keo Chai”, arranged especially for the tour by Vietnamese musician and composer Vo Anh Van.
PEA’s ensembles will perform two concerts in Hanoi, with the first one held at the Hanoi Cheo Theatre on March 10 and the second at the Vietnam National Academy of Music on March 11.
Both concerts are free and open to the public.
Besides Hanoi, more concerts will be held in Hue and Hoi An in the central region and Ho Chi Minh City in the south.
