The HCM City People Committee on June 30 granted an investment certificate to the Empire City Limited Liability Company to develop the US$1.2 billion observation complex in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area in HCM City's District 2.
Covering 14.5 hectares, the complex is located on the city's eastern gateway, along the Saigon river. The project comprises a luxury shopping mall, a five-star hotel, an office building, an underground car park and an 86-storey tower.
Vo Sy Nhan, CEO of the Empire City Limited Liability Company said that he hoped to complete legal procedures to kick off the project in the fourth quarter of this year. The four-phase project is expected to be completed by 2022.
Speaking at the ceremony, vice chairman of the HCM City People's Committee Nguyen Huu Tin emphasized that the investment in the complex in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area played a vital role in developing infrastructure as well as creating modern architecture in the area.
He asked related departments and agencies to support and facilitate the investor to implement the project.
