April 28, HCMC, Ministry of Transport incorporated with HCMC People’s Committee, Binh Duong People’s Committee to organize the groundbreaking ceremony of upgrading Binh Loi Railway bridge and Saigon river flow to Ben Suc port under form of BOT. Attending the ceremony include Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang, Secretary of Binh Duong People’s Party Mai The Trung, Chairman of Binh Duong People’s Committee Tran Van Nam and Vice Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Tin.
The project of Saigon river flow starts from Binh Loi railway bridge, Hiep Binh Chanh Ward (Thu Duc District) and Ward 13, Binh Thanh District of HCMC to Ben Suc port, Dau Tieng district, Binh Duong province. The project has a length of 71km. The project of upgrading Binh Loi railway bridge has a rail track of 1,43m, designed speed of 100km/h, designed loaded capacity of T16, pedestrian load of 300kg/m2, navigational clearance of 50m x 7m, length of bridge is 478,6m. The project is upgraded to the downstream, new center of the bridge is 12m away from the old one, main span with steel arch is 101,5m long, 11 steel girder spans with length of 31,7m, 1 steel span run under the bridge with 21,5m long, main span is designed to coincide with the fairway.
The project is invested by Management Board of Waterway Projects (Ministry of Transport) with total investment capital of VND 1,302 billion from BOT and The State’s budget. The project aims to meet the demand of transport, socio-economic development of the area in general and of HCMC, Binh Duong in particular which is suitable with master plan and development orientation of transport.
After completed, the project will clear the Saigon river flow, receive large ships to promote socio-economic development, goods exchange and to ensure waterway safety of HCMC and neighboring provinces.
