On July 30, Vice Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Tat Thanh Cang received a UK business delegation led by Minister of State for Small Business, Industry and Enterprises Anna Soubry on a working visit to HCMC.
At the meeting, Mrs. Anna Soubry said in the framework of the official visit of UK Prime Minister David Cameron to Vietnam, leaders of both countries will discuss measures to deepen strategic partnership between Vietnam and UK, to promote strength and potential of both countries. Mrs. Anna Soubry stressed the purpose of her visit to HCMC aims to strengthen co-operation and investment opportunities, to discuss infrastructure investment and development in HCMC.
Being impressed by fast growth of HCMC, Mrs. Anna Soubry said that the visit is accompanied by representatives of UK large firms which have experiences in planning infrastructure investment and development. “We hope to build HCMC a world class one”, said Mrs. Anna Soubry.
In his part, Mr. Tat Thanh Cang expressed his belief that the visit will foster the good relationship between HCMC and the UK. Mr. Cang introduced some key projects of HCMC including 8 Metro lines, deepwater port system, logistics, etc. He said HCMC is urgently implementing the above mentioned projects and hope that UK government and businesses will support HCMC in term of capital, technology.
Mr. Cang also stressed that the UK and HCMC have many big potential in promoting co-operation in fields that both sides have strength such as transport infrastructure, supporting industry, construction and urban development. HCMC will do its best to create favorable conditions for both sides’ businesses to co-operate.
