Travel expo 2016 opened in HCMC

The Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo (ITE) and Mekong Tourism Alliance Awards (MTAA) were opened at GEM Gems Hotel and Conference Center in Nguyen Binh Khiem Street, district 1, HCMC last night.

The HCMC ITE 2016 is considered as the large- scale annual international event connecting domestic and foreign businesses in the Southeast Asia region.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen stressed that Ho Chi Minh City is a key’s economic, cultural and scientific hub of Vietnam and the Southeast Asia region, contributes over 20 percent of gross domestic product, over 30 percent of total budget revenue and 35 percent of foreign investment projects of the country.

The rapid growth of tourism industry has actively contributed into the city’s development and the annual cultural and tourism events have been creating a good impression for domestic and international arrivals, he said.

More than 30,000 visitors will participate in the 2016 HCMC International Travel Expo, and increase of 20- 30 percent in comparison with last year.

The HCMC ITE held at Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC) in district 7 lasts to September 10th.
