According to statistics of HCMC Department of Tourism, the number of international tourists to in the first quarter of 2016 was estimated at more than 1, 3 million, up 12% compared to the same period of 2015. Total tourism revenue was estimate at VND 25,763 billion, up 9% compared to 2015.
The number of visitors on tourist ships to HCMC on the Tet Lunar New Year reached 9,000, up 80% compared to 2015 (5,000 visitors)
The number of international visitors to HCMC in the first quarter of 2016 was very positive because it was the peak season during Binh Than Lunar New Year festival, especially international visitors from Korea, Japan, USA, Canada or Vietnamese overseas enjoyed the big growth.
From October 2015, HCMC has launched a new flight with Brunei, so international visitors from Brunei to HCMC also increased in 2016 Q.1
