Thu Thiem 2 Bridge broke ground at a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on February 3 under BT (Build-Transfer) form.
The ground breaking ceremony was attended by HCMC Party Committee Secretary Le Thanh Hai, Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang and Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the city People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan and Nguyen Huu Tin.
Mr. Tin instructed investor Dai Quang Minh Company to implement the project on schedule and ensure the work’s quality.
Minister Thang proposed the investor to shorten construction time to two years in stead of three years.
The six-lane Thu Thiem 2 Bridge will connect Thu Thiem New Urban Area in District 2 with the downtown area in District 1. The work has a total length of 1,465 meters with the main bridge spanning 886 meters over Saigon River.
The bridge is expected to be completed by April 30, 2018 with the total investment capital of VND4.26 trillion (US$199.77 million).
