On August 21, at Linh Trung Ward, Thu Duc District, HCMC, SAWACO has organized the inaugural ceremony of Thu Duc Water Plant-Phase III with a capacity of 300,000 cubic meters/day. Deputy Secretary of HCMC Party’s Committee-Chairwoman of HCMC People’s Council Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam attended the ceremony.
Thu Duc Water Plant-Phase III is the large-scale water supply project of HCMC applying advanced water processing technology from Germany. In the first 3 months of trial operation, the plant will be directly run by experts of contractor Passsavant (Germany) to ensure the highest output. In parallel, Passavant will conduct training for operation workers and transfer technology for investor.
With the operation of Thu Duc Water Plant, SAWACO will receive this source of water to increase its supply capacity to 1,800,000 cubic meters/day. Then, SAWACO will increase its water output to serve for wards of Thu Duc District including Hiep Binh Chanh, Hiep Binh Phuoc, Tam Phu, Tam Binh, Binh Chieu, Linh Dong; some wards of Binh Thanh District such as 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13; some wards of Phu Nhuan and Go Vap Districts such as 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 17; some parts of districts 1 and 3 and some parts of Tan Binh District. The plant also supplies water for remote areas.
Mr. Vu Duc Thang, Director of Saigon Clean Water Trading and Investment JSC (SWIC) said that the plant will ensure safe and clean water for HCMC, meeting the demand of clean water of HCMC’s people in accordance with planning and orientation of the Prime Minister on water supply system of HCMC till 2025.
Tan Hiep II Water Plant (capacity of 300,000 cubic meters/day) completed in 2016 will partly increase water supply output of HCMC and meet demand of clean water of HCMC at present and in the future.
