The Netherlands hopes to promote agricultural cooperation with HCMC

On the evening of March 20, Permanent Deputy Chairman of Le Thanh Liem received Vice Minister of Agriculture, Economic Affairs and Innovation of the Netherlands on a working visit to Vietnam.


At the reception, Mr. Le Thanh Liem expressed his belief that the visit will open more cooperation opportunities for both sides. Vietnam-Netherlands cooperation relation has shown positive results since establishing diplomatic relation since 1973 and after signing strategic partnership on climate change adaptation and water management since 2010, the signing of strategic partnership agreement on sustainable agriculture and food security in June 2014.



Mr. Liem highly appreciated the support of the Government of the Netherlands for HCMC in field of climate change adaptation, water management and anti-flooding, typically, the program of HCMC moving towards the Sea with climate change adaptation. In the framework of the program, HCMC and Rotterdam have been incorporation to build feasible research on anti-flooding project at Khanh Hoi Lake Park.



Mr. Liem affirmed to create favorable conditions for foreign enterprises, including Dutch ones to do business and invest in the city, especially in fields of Dutch strength such as hi-tech agriculture, biotechnology, etc.



For her part, Mrs. Marjolijn Sonnema affirmed the importance of cooperation relation with Vietnam, especially with HCMC, saying many Dutch agricultural enterprises highly valued the cooperation potential and expressed their wishes to cooperate with HCMC to promote the development of agriculture in Vietnam.
