On December 19, Department of Propaganda and Education of HCMC Party’s Committee coordinated with Center for National Culture under Vietnam Writers’ Association and HCMC Writers’ Association to organize the announcement ceremony of the book collection: “ A Century of HCMC’s Patriotic and Revolutionary Literature 1900-2000”

The collection includes 25 books featuring 1,560 literary works in from 400 authors. The 20,000 page collection have various literary styles such as novels, short stories, long stories, dramatic plays,  poetry, theory, criticism.

“A Century of HCMC’s Patriotic and Revolutionary Literature 1900-2000” depicts the city’s 100 year old patriotic and revolutionary literature from 1900 to 2000, it reflects patriotic and revolutionary literature achievements of HCMC in particular and of Southern region in general. Especially, the collection highlights specific features of a literature arisen on a new land, it is a culture front full of fighting & patriotic spirits in various patriotic tendencies such as preserving national morality, using pens as weapons, Vietnamese language imbued with colors of localities,

Speaking at the release ceremony, Mrs. Than Thi Thu, Head of HCMC Department of Propaganda and Education said: “The book collection is considered as a literary merit with high value of literature, theater, cinema; it presents a deep gratitude to many generations of writers, poets, artists, solders who sacrificed for national independence and reunification. The book collection helps people be aware of revolutionary value and achievements. It also depicts the relationship between literature tradition and heroic resistance lasting for 100 years in many periods of Vietnamese people, noting typical peoples and quintessence of a 100 year old literature.
