At the reception, Ambassador Camilla Mellander said Sweden is paying a special attention to socio-economic development of Vietnam and HCMC. Many big firms of Sweden such as IKEA, H&M, etc. are interested in expanding their investment in Vietnam, including HCMC. She hopes to receive sincere support from HCMC’s authority.

She added Sweden is the leading country in creative initiatives, water treatment, environment technology, sustainable development, saying Sweden is willing to support HCMC in the above mentioned fields.
 
At the meeting, Mr. Jari Kohonen said Vietnam has a big population with increasing number of high income people. He added that in this visit Volvo Cars will announce the appointment of Bac Au Automobile as its importer and official distributor in Vietnam. Volvo Cars is planning to build two 4S Volvo centers in District 7 (HCMC) and Long Bien (Hanoi). The two centers are expected to put into operation in Sep 2016.

Mr. Le Thanh Liem said after over 45 years of establishment of diplomatic relation, Vietnam-Sweden relation has been well-developed. Sweden is one of the countries which Vietnam wishes to study experience in green and clean development. Currently, HCMC together with other provinces are facing with challenges due to environmental pollution, climate change and salt water intrusion. He expressed his hope that Sweden will share its experience and support HCMC to solve these issues. 

Mentioning about project of Volvo Cars, Mr. Liem said HCMC welcomes this project. The city is directing relevant departments and agencies to create favorable conditions for this project.
He highly valued the interest of Swedish companies for Vietnam and hoped that this visit will further encourage more Swedish companies to invest in HCMC.

Mr. Liem affirmed that HCMC’s authority always accompany with business community, including Swedish companies, the city always welcome Swedish companies to invest in HCMC, considering investors’ success as its own.
