Strengthening information propaganda on international economic integration

On July 16, Ministry of Trade and Industry and HCMC People’s Committee co-organized a talk on project of information propaganda on international economic integration, propagating some signed free trade agreements (FTA). Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Nguyen Cam Tu & Vice Chairwoman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hong attended.

According to Mr. Nguyen Cam Tu, it required a close co-ordination between ministries, departments, localities and enterprises to make activities of information propaganda on international economic integration effective. He explained that information propaganda on international economic integration is related to many ministries, departments, then, it needs a mass participation of ministries, departments, media at all levels. In addition, Mr. Tu said that it also requires positive participation of localities and enterprises because these are main objects of information propaganda.

 
Addressing at the talk, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong said that early conclusion of FTAs with comprehensive commitments on trade, investment, service, regulation reform, etc, will bring many opportunities for economic development of localities in Vietnam, especially HCMC. She also noted that there will be some big challenges for enterprises. HCMC has now 140,000 enterprises, most of them are small and medium-sized, it will be a challenge for raising awareness, seizing opportunities and using effectively FTAs’ content as well as ensuring a successful integration process.  

Mrs. Hong said HCMC has providing guidance on working out an information propaganda plan on international economic integration to introduce content of signed FTAs and opportunities for local enterprises.
