Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh, Director of HCMC Department of External Relations said that in 2014 HCMC Department of External Relations has cooperated with Directorate of State Protocol, units under Ministry of Foreign Affairs and localities to receive 116 international delegations, of which are delegations of heads of states. HCMC Department of External Relations has successfully arranged overseas working trips for 21 delegations of HCMC, making important contributions to establishment and expansion of friendship, co-operation relationship between HCMC with localities abroad.

In addition, in overseas working trips, the department has effectively implemented the trade, tourism and investment promotion programs, transferring an image of friendliness, dynamic and co-operation potential of HCMC to international friends.    

HCMC Department of External Relations has consulted HCMC to establish relationships with 02 international localities including  Northern Australian territory and Shiga province (Japan), increasing the number of localities having friendship and co-operation relationships and trade relationships with HCMC to 35 and 220 nations and territories respectively.

Addressing at the ceremony, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem praised HCMC Department of External Relations in recognition of excellent performances in 2014, contributing to improvement the image of HCMC to international friends. Mr. Liem suggested that the department continues to bring into play its role in consulting leaders of HCMC and pushing up economic and cultural diplomacy with other countries around the world.
