On May 9, at the conference on implementation of price stabilization program for essential pharmaceutical products (domestically produced) in the period of 2015-2016, HCMC Department of Health said the program covers 551 groups of domestically produced drugs at 3500 outlets in HCMC in 2015 and 2016.
These are essential drug items for chronic diseases such as analgesic, anti-allergy, diarrhea, stomachache, cough, diabetes, cardiovascular, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, ophthalmic, worm infection, rheumatic, vitamin and mineral supplements, improvement of brain circulation, anti-psychosis, antifungal, etc. Selling prices of these products are at least 5-10% lower than market prices.
According to Associate Professor. Dr. Pham Khanh Phong Lan –Deputy Director of HCMC Department of Health, the price stabilization program for pharmaceutical products has partly meet the demand of patients. The program has made a strong impact on the market, curbing the speed of price increase of medicines in HCMC. Number of drugstores voluntarily registered for price stabilization program is increasing.
In 2014, the program has covered 530 groups of drugs, up 1,3 times compared to 2013 with participation of 3,169 drugstores, of which 2,436 are private drugstores, 117 drugstores in hospitals and 616 drugstores and agents of enterprises.
