As a report, Mr. Nguyen The Minh, deputy head of Investment & Construction Authority of Thu Thiem New Urban Area said the Authority has mainly focused on land clearance and compensation in the last 15 years, the construction started in early 2014. Till now, land clearance and compensation completes at 99, 41%, 84 cases have not completed land clearance.

Regarding to investment situation, a total of 150 land plots with investment policies has an area of 185 hectares; the rest 26 land plots have a total area of 36 hectares. Projects with investment policies are under construction include:  technical infrastructure project for a 38, 4 ha resettlement area in Binh Khanh ward; four major roads, Central Square and riverside Park and an eco-park; embankment project alongside Saigon river, Thu Thiem Bridge No 2, technical infrastructure project for Northern residential area and North-South Road; canal dredging project and digging of a central lake. Projects with investment policy not implemented include pedestrian bridge (linking with District 1), Thu Thiem Bridge No 3 (linking with District 4), Thu Thiem Bridge No 4 (linking with District 7).
 
Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong required the Authority to speed up the progress of construction of Thu Thiem New Urban Area to promote the city’s development, to closely coordinate with related departments and agencies to ensure a synchronous connection of technical infrastructure of Thu Thiem New Urban Area with other areas of HCMC.
