SMEs of Japan seek co-operation opportunities in HCMC

On October 29, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee received a Japanese business delegation led by Mr. Yoichi Kobayashi – Chairman of Japan-Mekong Economic Co-operation Committee.


 
At the meeting, Mr. Tat Thanh Cang highly valued Japanese businesses’ contributions to the socio-economic development of HCMC in fields of trade, industry, agriculture, hi-tech, etc. Japan is now ranked 5th in foreign countries investing in HCMC with over 800 enterprises, up 200 enterprises compared to 2014. 



In the direction of industrial development of HCMC, Mr. Cang said the city is expecting to establish Vietnam-Japan Industry Area to develop supporting industries. This will be a new investment model to attract investment from Japan. Mr. Cang said authority of HCMC always supports and accompanies by Japanese investors, help them seek co-operation opportunities in HCMC.



Commenting on Vietnamese investment environment, Mr. Yoichi Kobayashi said Vietnam has a young and hard working population, political stability, etc; the city is always an ideal destination for foreign investors including Japanese investors. Mr. Yoichi Kobayashi added the purpose of this visit aims to further promote investment co-operation programs between Japanese and Vietnamese small and medium-sized enterprises, especially in the fields of supporting industries to bring both sides’ co-operation relations to higher growth.
