Speaking at the seminar, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung said Vietnamese businesses have not paid sufficient attention to protecting their intellectual assets and confidential business information.
Meanwhile, asset protection was essential to maintain business competitiveness, Tung said, adding the ministry and other government agencies have organised training programs to help firms protect their intellectual property.
In the coming time, the ministry would work with other agencies to expand training courses on intellectual asset management to help businesses better protect and develop their intellectual assets, he said at the seminar jointly organized by the Vietnam Intellectual Property Research Institute and National Agency for Southern Affairs under the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the HCM City Department of Science and Technology.
HCM City pioneered intellectual asset management in the country, with the aim of enhancing the quality of human resources in the city from 2011 to 2020.
As of September 2014, more than 400 participants have attended the training program in HCM City, with 120 completing a degree for intellectual asset management.
