On March 9, HCMC People’s Committee and HCMC Development and Research Institute coordinated with Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences & Vietnam Institute of Economics to organize a seminar entitled: “HCMC Development – Mechanisms & Breakthrough Policies”. Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Dinh La Thang, Permanent Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem, Director of Vietnam Institute of Economics Tran Dinh Thien attended the seminar.
Issues discussed at the seminar included: evaluating development situation of HCMC; analyzing and finding shortcomings, visions, strategies and mechanisms, development policies; proposing and discussing breakthrough solutions for the city’s development in the coming based on determining visions, mechanisms, policies, promoting regional link and global integration.
In his conclusion, Secretary Dinh La Thang stressed that the project of “breakthrough solutions for HCMC’s fast, comprehensive development, well implementing its nuclear role for the region and the whole country in accordance with Decree No 16-NQ/TW of Politburo” aims to promote fast and sustainable development of HCMC. The city is willing to receive ideas of experts, scientists and local people to work out suitable proposals.
According to Mr. Thang, the project is set up at the time when Vietnam is strengthening its economic restructuring with strong impacts from 4th industrial revolution. Therefore, he said, the project must include in the regional linking master plan with common mechanisms of the whole country in accordance with the Resolution No 16 of Politburo. Any proposal must be specific, suitable and practical with scientific basis, good solutions and can be done right. Secretary Thang suggested that Vietnam Institute of Economics coordinates with related units to speed up the construction of the scheme.
