Minister of Construction Pham Hong Ha, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong, experts and scientists in construction sector attended the seminar.

On his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong stressed that the Resolution of 10th Party Congress of HCMC includes a breakthrough program on “Urban Gentrification and Development”. With this program, the city strives to relocate and re-organize shelters for over 20,000 citizens living alongside canals; relocating and building at least 50% of new apartment buildings till 2020.
In order to achieve the above targets, Mr. Phong said it requires many solutions, especially a special financial mechanism to mobilize all resources and capital for urban gentrification and development.

Addressing at the seminar, Minister Pham Hong Ha said Ministry of Construction always supports HCMC and commits to closely coordinate with the city to best carry out this breakthrough program in the coming time.

In addition, Mr. Pham Hong Ha also mentioned that urban gentrification and development must be implemented by new thinking. The city should listen to opinions of experts, scientists, local people and social community. Besides, HCMC should closely coordinate with relevant ministries and departments for positive results.
