Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan to meet overseas Vietnamese in Japan

In the afternoon of March 18, a delegation led by Secreatary of HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhat met with overseas Vietnamese at the Embassy of Vietnam in Tokyo (Japan).


Attending the meeting included Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Vietnam to Japan Nguyen Quoc Cuong, member of Central Party Committtee & Director of National University in HCMC Huynh Thanh Dat, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Chan Vinh Tuyen and leaders of HCMC departments and agencies.

At the meeting, Secretary Nhan gave an overview of the city achievements in recent years. He added that the city has big percentage of high quality workforce compared to the whole country. This has helped the city achieve the highest economic growth rate of the whole country and become the leading economic hub.


 “In the period of 2016-2017, the city has achieved a fairly high economic growth with investment and business environment much improved. The city has attracted a total FDI capital of over US$ 10 billion, higher than combined one of 5 previous years. This is a clear proof that the city has won the trust of foreign investors”, said Mr. Nhan.


Chairman of overseas Vietnamese Association in Japan Mr. Tran Ngoc Phuc expressed his impression with the city’s outstanding achievements, affirming that the Vietnamese community in Japan always seeks investment opportunities for their homeland.


He added that despite of being a large exporter, Vietnam still depends on foreign exporting enterprises. He expressed his hope that overseas Vietnamese in Japan to strengthen cooperation and to work out solutions to support Vietnamese exporters.


Regarding to Vietnam-Japan relations, Mr. Nhan affirmed that both countries have deepened comprehensive strategic partnership. Japan is now one of top 2 largest investors in Vietnam. Through this meeting, he hoped that Vietnamese businesses in Japan in particular and overseas Vietnamese in Japan in general would contribute more to Vietnam’s development.

He alsow recoginized contributing ideas of Overseas Vietnamsese Community in Japan, affiming the city will establish a contact channel for those who want to study and seek investment opportunities in HCMC, or students who wish to contribute to the city. He added th city would do research in organizing investment promotion programs in Japan.
