Russian Consulate General in HCM City held on June 10 a ceremony to mark the 25th National Day of Russia (June 12, 1990 - June 12, 2015).
Addressing the event, Russian Consul General in HCM City Alexey Vladimirovic Popov highlighted the traditional friendly relationship between Russia and Vietnam has been stable since they established diplomatic ties 60 years ago. Bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, national defense and security, science, education and culture has been being consolidated.
With the recent conclusion of a free trade agreement (FTA) between the Eurassian Economic Union and Vietnam, the bilateral relationship has been upgraded. The two countries are trying actively to increase their bilateral trade turnover to US$10 billion in 2020, said the consul general.
HCM City People's Committee Vice Chairman Tat Thanh Cang confirmed that the cooperation between the two countries has been consolidating. He said the cooperation between his city and localities in Russia has shown positive changes. Last month the city and Moscow entered an agreement to cooperate in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology and culture, opening a new path for further growth.
