Mr. Tran Van Thang, Member of BOD of Petrolimex cum Director of Petrolimex Saigon said Petrolimex Saigon (formerly Southern Petro Company) was established in Sept 17 1975 under Vietnam National Petroleum Group.  Through various periods, thanks to ceaseless efforts of staffs, Petrolimex Saigon has overcome obstacles to excellently finish its missions.

In the last 40 years, total import-export volume reached over 120m3/ton, meeting full demands of petroleum in the area, investing and developing distribution channels from 26 outlets in 1989 to 70 outlets now spreading almost districts of HCMC. These outlets are equipped with advanced management systems, modern electronic petroleum pumps, automatic petroleum container devices, fire fighting equipment, and environmental protection.

Petrolimex Saigon has excellently completed financial and business indicators such as turnover, profit, contribution to the State budget, income of laborers, etc. in order to achieve the above results, Petrolimex Saigon has renovated its organization model, staff organizing, wages, perfecting its management mechanism, investing a synchronous infrastructure system, diversifying business activities, effectively exploiting resources, implementing policy on thrift practice and anti-wastefulness.

Petrolimex Saigon has invested in a modern facility system including: upgrading Nha Be depot from 200,000 m3 in 1975 to 730,000m3 now which can provide 10 million m3/year – 50 times higher than in 1975. The company always ensures order and security, fire safety, environmental protection; enhancing quality of human resource attached with advanced business management; encouraging staffs to join in social activities in HCMC and neighboring provinces.

Addressing at the ceremony, Mr. Tat Thanh Cang praised efforts and results of Petrolimex Saigon in the last 40 years, contributing to the socio-economic development and energy security of HCMC and Southern provinces. Mr. Cang expressed his hope that Petrolimex will continue to ensure absolute safety in the production process, fully implementing regulations of the State on fire prevention and fighting, ensuring full supply of petroleum for the economy and national energy security, maintaining its key role in petroleum business, ensuring a harmony of benefits between consumers and enterprises, modernizing technical facilities, upgrading retail stores, diversifying business models, improving material and spiritual livings of staffs and participating into social security activities in HCMC.
