Peak season on food safety and hygiene

(HCM CityWeb)- On October 19, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development organized an online meeting on implementation of peak season on food safety and hygiene in field of agriculture from October to February 2016, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat chaired the meeting.


As report of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, agricultural material quality management and food safety and hygiene in the first 9 months of 2015 have achieved positive changes including completion of legal documents; propaganda of certified safe production processes; establishing supply chains of safe food; discovering legal violations of agricultural material quality and food safety and hygiene, etc.

 

 Pilot program on food safety and hygiene in Hanoi and HCMC

 

According to implementation of peak season and the action plan of food safety and hygiene from October 2015 to February 2016, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has a target of solving the most concerned issue of using prohibited substances in livestock; reducing residue levels of chemicals plant protection substances in vegetables, antibiotics in pork, poultry meat, seafood, etc.

 

 In the coming time, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will strengthen propaganda of food safety and hygiene, supporting production and trading establishments to be certified GAP, testing samples of various kinds of meat, etc. At the same time, the Ministry will promote trade, connect production-consumption and promote certified safe foods.

 

In HCMC and Hanoi, the Ministry will conduct a pilot inspection on food safety and hygiene in districts, towns, communes, etc. Director of HCMC Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Phuoc Trung announced some key missions to raise awareness of producers, propagandizing safe products to consumers.

 

 At the same time, HCMC will continue expanding distribution systems by Vietgap standards. For example, vegetables will be delivered to supermarkets and traditional markets, collective kitchens, etc. In addition, the city will strengthen training activities for producers, check certified establishments to provide more safe products to consumers.

 

From now to year end, HCMC will focus on checking and increasing test scale, co-coordinating with 7 provinces which are supplying a big amount of agricultural-forestry-fishery products to HCMC to inspect and to enhance quality of safe goods for local people.
