(HCM CITYWEB)- In the evening of September 9, at GEM Center, took place the opening ceremony of HCMC International Travel Expo (ITE-HCMC) and held the Mekong Tourism Alliance Awards VII (MTAA 2015). Attending the ceremony include Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Hoang Tuan Anh, Permanent Vice Secretary of HCMC Party’s Committee Vo Van Thuong, Vice Chairwoman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hong, Ministers of Tourism of ASEAN countries and Mayors of Phnom Penh, Vieng Chan, Yangon, Bangkok together with representatives of international travel firms.
The ITE-HCMC is an annual event and an important highlight of HCMC tourism sector and of Vietnam. ITE-HCM 2015 took place from Sept 10-12 at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center with theme: “Five nations-one destination”. The event attracted 220 international buyers, 100 buyers from five nations including Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Thailand. The event attracted 25,000 visitors, an increase of 20-30% compared to 2014.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong said ITE-HCMC is a national event that HCMC has the honor of organizing in the 11 consecutive years. This event together with other programs such as Nguyen Hue flower street, Ao Dai festival, Southern fruit festival, food festival, etc, helped transfer the image of HCMC to international visitors.
Mrs. Hong affirmed that ITE-HCMC has become a brand of not only Vietnam but neighboring countries in Mekong River. It is a big festival for tourism companies, an opportunity for connecting and establishing long-term co-operation relations in the future.
