Mr. Vo Van Hoan receives commanding officer of French navy ship

In the afternoon of June 1, Office Manager of HCMC People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan received a delegation of French Navy Ship Dixmude led by Captain Jean Porcher in a visit to the city.



Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Hoan welcomed Mr. Jean Porcher and the delegation of French navy Mistral – class amphibious assault ship Dismude and La Fayette – class frigate FS Surcouf to the city.


He highly appreciated the visit of French navy Mistral – class amphibious assault ship Dismude and La Fayette – class frigate FS Surcouf to HCMC which is a part of activities to celebrate the 45 years of Vietnam-France diplomatic relations and the 5th anniversary of stratefic partnerships.


France has now 215 investment projects in HCMC with total capital of US$ 217 million, ranked 17/90 countries and territories investing in the city.


In his brief introduction of HCMC’s socio-economic development, Mr. Hoan said the city is, apart from advantages as Vietnam’s big economic centre, facing challenges like poor infrastructure, environmental pollution, flooding, etc. He expressed his hope to cooperate with France in fields of economy, trade, tourism, investment, etc.


For his part, Mr. Jean Porcher thanked HCMC for warmly welcome, expressing his impression on the city’s strong development.


In this visit, Mr. Jean Porcher said during its stop in HCMC, the La Fayete Surcouf will promote exchange activities between both countries. The sailors and officers of the ship will visit, study cultural lives of people in the city. After a 5 day visit to Vietnam (June 1-5), the ship will continue its jouney and conduct training activities to improve experience and skills for young officers.


This is the third concecutive visit of Mistral-class ship of France to Vietnam in the framework of Jeanne d’Arc campaign of French navy force that owns the strongest frigate sheet in Europe.
