Mr. Vo Van Hoan receives Captain Jean Porcher, Commanding Officer of the Dixmude (France)

In the afternoon of June 1, Office Manager of HCMC People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan recieved a delegation of officers of French Navy ship led by Captian Jean Porcher, Commanding Offiver of the Dixmude.

 

At the reception, Mr. Hoan welcomed the officers and failors of the Mistral -class amphibious assalt ship Dixmude and La Fayette – class frigate FS Surcouf under Jeanne d’Arc 2018 campaign.


Mr. Hoan highly appreciated the visit, saying it took place when both Vietnam and France and celebrated the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 5th anniversary of strategic partnerships.


In HCMC alone, France has 215 investment projects worth US$ 217 million, ranked 17 out of 90 countries and territories investing in HCMC. In his brieft introduction of the city’s socio-economic development, Mr. Hoan said as a big eonomic centre Vietnam, HCMC is facing challenges in terms of infrastructure, environmental pollution, flooding, etc. With its available strengths, HCMC hopes to strengthen cooperation with France in fields of economy, trade, tourism and investment, etc.
For his part, Captain Jean Porcher thanked HCMC’s leaders for there warm welcome and expressed his impression at the city’s development speed.


Mentioning about the delegation’s working agenda, Mr. Jean Porcher said during its stop in HCMC, the FLF Surcouf will promote exchange activities between both countries. The sailors and officers of the ship will visit, study cultural lives of people in the city. After a 5 day visit to Vietnam (June 1-5), the ship will continue its jouney and conduct training activities to improve experience and skills for young officers.


This is the third consecutive visit of Mistral-class ship of France to Vietnam in the framework of Jeanne d’Arc campaign of French navy force that owns the strongest frigate sheet in Europe.
