As a report, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem said GRDP of the city reached VND 732, 437 billion, up 7, 76% compared to the same period. Consumer price index was well controlled with average increase of 1, 38% in the first 9 months of 2016 compared to the same period, budget revenue reached 73, 46% as planned.

135 tasks out of 171 tasks assigned by the Prime Minister from January 1 2016 till October 10 2016 have been completed by HCMC, including 129 tasks completed on time, 6 were overdue).

According to Mr. Liem, coordination and implementation process has contributed improvement of disciplines and regulations in the city’s administrative system, coordination activities between HCMC and Central ministries and departments are regularly maintained and effectively implemented.

Mentioning about the city’s tasks, Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong said the city will focus on strengthening administrative reform, developing urban areas, anti-flooding, handling environmental pollution and traffic congestion, etc. The city has drastically directed implementation of 7 breakthrough programs, handled encroachment of canals. In addition, the city has paid a special attention to support startup businesses, etc. Mr. Phong expressed his hope that the Government will further support the city to build a smart city, to solve the most pressing issues. He said that HCMC with role of economic locomotive of the whole country is now given with mechanisms of train cars, so it is hard for the city to develop. The city is now in need of motivation of a locomotive to develop as its wish. He proposed that the Government should give more power and conditions for the city to complete its tasks.

Conveying guidelines of the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Minister of Office of the Government Mai Tien Dung said the Prime Minister highly value efforts of HCMC in socio-economic development and budget revenue. Beside achievements and efforts, the Prime Minister requested the city to pay attention to urban management, anti-flooding, traffic congestion, environmental pollution, etc.

It is requested by the Prime Minister that HCMC must also pay attention to crime problems, counterfeit products, food hygiene and safety. With a population of 10 million, food hygiene and safety, origin of food, etc. need to be closely and regularly inspected. Regarding to traffic order and safety, HCMC is now building many projects including urban railway, ring road outside the international airport, subway system, etc. Therefore, the city needs to make suitable arrangement to avoid traffic congestion and to maximum reduce traffic accidents.

At the same time, The Prime Minister requested that HCMC should pay attention to flood control, land clearance, complaint settlement, etc.
