On March 23, a delegation of Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front led by Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee visited and paid tribute to formerly Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew at the Consulate General of Singapore in HCMC.
Mr. Le Thanh Hai laid a wreath and wrote in the book of condolences for Mr. Lee Kuan Yew: “I am deeply saddened at the death of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew – the father of Singapore. The world has lost a fine and legendary leader of Asia. Singapore has lost a fine statesman with great vision. Party Committee, authorities and people of HCMC have lost a long time friend who has a deep understanding and a special attention to Vietnam in general and to HCMC in particular. His departure is a big loss of the world that nothing can reciprocate. On behalf of Party Committee, authorities and people of HCMC, we would like to offer our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to Consulate General of Singapore in HCMC, Government of Singapore, People of Singapore and Mr. Lee Kuan Yew’s family. We hope that he rest in peace, Government, people and family of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew will soon overcome every obstacle”.
