On February 10, a delegation led by Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan and leaders of Departments, agencies hosted a meeting with foreign representative offices in HCMC on the occasion of Tet holidays
Chairman Le Hoang Quan announced socio-economic development situations of HCMC in 2014 to international friends. Mr. Quan especially stressed on GDP growth rate of 9,6%. HCMC is also the first locality that reaches export turnover of over US$ 32 billion, import revenue of US$ 30,7 billion. As a special city, 2014 saw many external relation and international integration activities at many levels in HCMC. HCMC received 120 foreign delegations and missions, hosted many trade and investment promotions, signing many important co-operation documents, opening way for specific co-operation projects.
Mr. Quan stressed: “HCMC will continue ensure political -social stability, strengthen implementation of FTAs and ASEAN Community 2015, push up administrative reforms, create a more open investment environment and a close, friendlier living space for foreigners”.
On behalf of diplomatic missions and international organizations, Mr. John McAnulty, Australian Consul General in HCMC, sent a Happy New Year wishes to leaders and people of HCMC. He also highly appreciated economic growth of HCMC in 2014. In 2015, Mr. John McAnulty affirmed thanks to open policies, HCMC is a leading place for investment attraction in Vietnam, based on these policies, foreign investors feel more confident in carrying their projects.
