On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2015, on February 9, a delegation of HCMC Party Committee – People’s Council – Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of HCMC led by Mr. Le Thanh Hai – Secretary of HCMC Party Committee paid a visit to the Southern office of Vietnam Buddhism Sangha (VBS) Central Committee and Managing Committee of VBS in HCMC.
On the visit, on behalf of leaders of HCMC, Mr. Le Thanh Hai announced basics highlights of socio-economic development situations of HCMC in the last year and shared: “Efforts of the Party, authorities and levels of people have made great contributions to HCMC, supporting the city overcome difficulties to achieve great results, of which contributions of religious communities plays an important role.
Mr. Hai thanked for Buddhist dignitaries, Buddhist nuns and monks for their contributions to the socio-economic development of HCMC. Mr. Hai said he is impressed at the number of VND 248,8 billion in HCMC and of VND 421 billion of the whole country that the Central Committee of VBS and Managing Committee of VBS in HCMC contributed to charity activities in 2014. These partly ensured social security in HCMC and the whole country.
On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2015, most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon and Thich Quang wished Mr. Hai and leaders of HCMC a great success in 2015, creating strengths for HCMC to deeply develop in the process of international integration. Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon and Thich Quang stressed that they will continue to accompany with HCMC taking care of spiritual lives of Buddhists, mobilize people to actively participate into economic development activities attached with charity activities, bringing into play good values of Buddhists.
