Leaders of HCMC receives Russia Prime Minister

On April 7, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan received Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on his official visit to Vietnam under invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Mr. Le Hoang Quan expressed his delight to receive Mr. Dmitry Medvedev and high-profile delegation of the Government of Russia Federation to HCMC. Mr. Quan stressed that people of HCMC will make their utmost efforts in fostering special solidarity, friendship, co-operation between Vietnam and Russia.


Mr. Quan also announced political, economic, social situations of HCMC, saying that HCMC has effectively co-operated with localities of Russia, of which a co-operation agreement is going to be signed between HCMC and Moscow, celebrating the 10th anniversary of HCMC – Saint Peterburg co-operation. In economy, two way trade between HCMC with Russian partners in 2014 reached US$ 300 million, HCMC has been striving to increase two way trade between Vietnam and Russia to US$ 2 billion in 2020 as planned by both countries.


Mr. Quan said that investment co-operation between HCMC and localities of Russia is not matched with potential and demands. He hoped that the visit of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will further promote investment co-operation in the coming time.


In his part, Mr. Dmitry Medvedev thanked leaders and people of HCMC for warm welcome, highly appreciated results of dialogues with leaders of Vietnam, affirming that Vietnam-Russia relationship is based on sustainability and bright future.
