On March 27, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen received a delegation of Sojitz Corporation (Japan) led by Director of Sojitz Corp in Vietnam Hironori Tateiri.
At the reception, Mr. Hironori Tateiri said Sojitz is a leading general trading and investment firm of Japan with a history of over 100 years, Sojitz has established its presence in Vietnam since 1978.
For his part, Mr. Tuyen said although HCMC is the largest urban area of Vietnam, but the city also faces issues like uncompleted urban infrastructure system including roads, bridges, waste water treatment, anti-flooding, etc. Housing is now the city’s concern. The city is now dealing with 20, 000 shanty houses alongside canals, it requires the city to relocate all these slum dwellers to clean the waterway and to improve their living standards.
According to Mr. Tuyen, in a working visit to Japan last weekend, Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan expressed his hope to build a creative urban area (expected in Districts 2, 9 and Thu Duc District) to promote development of hi-tech & smart urban area with key functions including scientific research, human resource training, applicaiton of science and technology in production. Japanese partners are always the city’s trusted ones, therefore, the city’s leaders always welcome and thank Sojitz Corporation for its attention to invest, suppor for the city.
