(HCM CITYWEB)- On September 15, at headquarter of HCMC People’s Committee, Saigon Hi-tech Park and Minimal Fab Development Association (Japan) signed MOU on Minimal Fab Technology.
At the signing ceremony, Mr. Ngo Duc Hoang, Director of Integrated Circuit Design Research and Education Center (ICDREC) said this is a new technology in integrated circuit manufacturing which is developed by Japanese scientists and enterprises. This is the first time that Japan agrees to transfer this kind of technology to Saigon Hi-tech Park.
Minimal Fab does not require a big amount of capital (approximately US$ 5 million/ production line) but be able to expand its scale from technology research to mass production, optimal exploitation of demands of research, training, development of integrated circuit products for schools, institutes, enterprises ; manufacturing special chips for army, national defense.
According to the MOU, Japanese partner agreed to provide training course to 2 researchers of Saigon hi-tech Park in 1-2 year in Japan and transferred Minimal Fab technology to Saigon hi-tech Park.
The MOU is a big chance for HCMC to develop its integrated circuit industry based on Minimal Fab Technology.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Tat Thanh Cang thanked the Japanese Consul General in HCMC for his support in linking the co-operation program between Vietnam and Japan in fields of education, training, science, technology, etc. He expressed his belief that the MOU will be successful and contribute to the common development of semi-conductor industry of Vietnam in general and of HCMC in particular.
