Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Quoc Cuong, Deputy Director of HCMC Department of Information and Communication said Digital TV service and Broadband Internet equipped at Thanh An Island is very significant in reducing the gap between urban and suburban areas, offering people in islands opportunities to carry out multi-dimensional poverty reduction program, to raise level of cultural enjoyment, to create conditions for students in island communes to approach knowledge.

Mr. Cuong added that following the program of equipping broadband data transmission service of Viettel, HCMC Department of Information and Communication will coordinate with functional organs of Can Gio District to promote establishment of public services to develop new rural areas and multi-dimensional poverty reduction, education and remote health care services

By equipping digital TV service and broadband Internet cable in Thanh An Island, HCMC become the first locality of Vietnam with digital TV service and broadband Internet cable covered 100% of communes and towns.
