Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Quoc Cuong – Deputy Director of HCMC Department of Information and Communication said: “Tan Thong Hoi commune Cultural Postal Library is the first model of the whole country combined between Library and commune cultural Post office. Accordingly, commune cultural post office is upgraded, expanded its functions, serving books and newspapers to best meet the demands of information, culture of rural people.

Tan Thong Hoi commune cultural postal library is equipped with “kiosk system of new rural information”, this system is researched and first implemented by HCMC Department of Information and Communication in HCMC and the whole country. This system will be automatically upgraded and provide hottest information about economy, science, production as well as knowledge of agriculture-rural area-farmer.

Vietnam Publishers Association – Rep office in the South has mobilized 800 books from printing companies. Newsrooms (Saigon liberation newspapers, Youth Newspapers, Labour newspapers, HCMC Police newspapers, Woman newspaper, etc) also provide free daily newspapers. HCMC Telecommunication support installation, charges, repair and warranty services of cable wires (MyTV) and high-speed Internet, free Wifi. General Sciences Library of HCMC organizes training courses of employees for the library. The commune cultural postal library will be a familiar address for people to seek production documents, a place for students to read books, newspapers, exchange culture, use computers to study.

At the ceremonty, HCMC Department of Information and Communication together with Cu Chi District People’s committee, HCMC Post office, HCMC Telecommunication, Vietnam Publishers Association – Southern Rep Office, General Sciences Library of HCMC commit to support Tan Thong Hoi  commune cultural postal library to best meet the demands of information, culture of rural people.

Addressing at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Le Manh Ha suggested the commune cultural postal library needs to work out the target of serving in the long term for farmers, step by step enhancing quality of information channels, improving cultural and spiritual lives for rural people. Mr. Ha said that the library must ensure a harmonious combination of social and political targets to raise intellectual standards, brining advanced services and an information society to farmers, reducing gap between uran and rual areas.

Mr. Ha expressed his hope that the model of commune cultural postal library will continue to recieve attention, support from enterprises and departments – agencies - association - libraries – localities, etc, to further improve the living standards of people in rural areas.
