On July 25, Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE) hosted a ceremony to mark 15th anniversary of establishment. Attended the ceremony included Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Hong and representatives of Central and local departments - agencies.
At the ceremony, Mr. Tran Dac Dinh, Chairman of HOSE, said HOSE has strongly developed in the last 15 years and achieved many encouraging results. Till June 30 2015, HOSE has 303 stocks listed worth VND 1,100,000 billion, 87 member companies with 1, 5 million accounts. HOSE also listed and made debut of exchange traded funds (ETF), 38 bonds of companies and local authorities. Listed companies are mostly big sized with averaging capitalization value of VND 3,600 billion for each.
HOSE’s market capitalization accounts for 88% that of the whole market, averaging transaction value in 2014 achieved over VND 2,100 billion/day, equal to 70% that of both HNX and HOSE. After 15 years, total traded stocks reached 112 billion stocks, equal to over VND2,700,000 billion.
Addressing at the celebration, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung highly appreciated HOSE, saying that HOSE is a leading securities transaction center of the country and an important channel (short and long term capital) for Vietnam’s economy.
Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung requested to review, supplement necessary regulations to manage, inspect and prevent securities market from falling into difficulties; training a high quality human resource; perfecting facilities, modern technologies to compete with other countries.
He also directed Ministry of Finance to complete mechanisms, regulations, policies, strengthening restructuring project, pushing up equitization process, etc, remaining a sustainable development, trying its best to do a good job as a short and long term capital channel for the economy.
