On February 7, more than 600 overseas Vietnamese worldwide joined the get together on occasion of Lunar New Year 2015. The party is a part of “Homeland Spring 2015” program co-hosted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs and HCMC People’s Committee.
Attending the party include Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Le Thanh Hai, Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan, Vice Permanent Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Vo Van Thuong, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affair cum Chairman of State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Vu Hong Nam, Chairwoman of HCMC People’s Council Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam together with leaders of Central agencies and of HCMC.
At the party, Mr. Le Hoang Quan announced some political, socio-economic, cultural achievements of HCMC in 2014 and development directions in 2015. Mr. Quan stressed that in the context of complicated political, security, economic situations of the region and of the world, Vietnam in general and HCMC in particular were impacted. But under drastic leadership of the Party, the State, people of the whole country and of HCMC, Vietnam has overcome every difficulty and achieved proud results. These results reflected common determination of political system, efforts of enterprises and united efforts of people, of whom contributions of overseas Vietnamese and their relatives are crucial for construction, development and integration of HCMC and the whole country.
At the party, 1 group and 2 individuals were granted Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister; 12 groups and 24 individuals received Certificates of Merit from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 1 group and 5 individuals received Certificates of Merit from HCMC People’s Committee for their contributions.
The get together was a special occasion for strengthening solidarity, loves of compatriots. It was also a linking bridge for strengthening loves of overseas Vietnamese all over the world for the nation, promoting national great unity strengths.
