On January 13, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong received a delegation of the Japan Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR) led by Chairman Mr. Tamotsu Okamoto on a courtesy visit to seek cooperation opportunities with HCMC.
At the meeting, Chairman Phong gave a brief of HCMC’s socio-economic development situation and fields that HCMC is calling for investment including manufacturing industries, hi-tech industry, supporting industry, hi-tech agriculture, human resource training.
Mr. Phong emphasized that the friendship relation between HCMC with Japanese localities, organizations and investors have so far achieved positive results. He expressed his hope that the visit of CLAIR will help further promote practical and effective cooperation relation between HCMC with Japanese localities.
Mr. Phong also expressed his hope to strengthen tourism cooperation between HCMC and Japan, saying there have been more and more Japanese tourists coming to the city in recent years while Japan remains as an attractive destination for Vietnamese people.
According to Mr. Phong, HCMC has signed many cooperation programs of localities of Japan but most of them are on paper. He expressed his hope that after the visit, Chairman of CLAIR and its members will work out specific cooperation programs with HCMC and to promote investment & cooperation opportunities in HCMC. Mr. Phong said the city is willing to create favorable conditions for foreign investors, including Japanese ones to do business in HCMC.
