At the reception, Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan affirmed Vietnam, including HCMC, always remembers the precious support of Cuba during the struggle for independence and renunifation of Vietnam.

Mr. Nhan highly appreciated the Vietnam-Cuba relations in the last 58 years, saying both sides’ cooperation has continously developed since establishing diplomati relations. In recent years, Vietnam-Cuba cooperation relation has ben strengthened. Mr. Nhan said HCMC is one of the first localities establishing cooperation activities with Cuba. Typically, the working visit of a municipal delegation led by Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong to Cuba in June 2018 has helped facilitate HCMC-Cuba cooperation realtions in fields of investment, trade, tourism.

In his sharing on economic growth and FDI attracton, Mr. Nhan affirmed HCMC is an important linking bridge to realize the pilot models related to Vietnam-Cuba cooperation activities. HCMC hopes to maintain a long-term and sustainalbe cooperation relation with Cuba and ready for establishing a joint working group to further promote both sides’ trade and investment cooperation. Firstly, both sides will conduct a pilot model of trade cooperation focusing on key products of Cuba in HCMC. Besides, Secretary Nhan also suggested that leaders of Cuba would create more favorable conditions for enterprises of HCMC to do business and invest in Cuba as well as to futher attract more Vietnamese investments into Cuba.

On behalf of the Cuban high-profile delegation, Mr. Miguel Mario Diáz Canel Bermúdez thanked HCMC’s leaders for their warm welcome. He said that HCMC is a typical model for Cuba to study the consturction of hi-tech park to attract foreign investment. He affirmed that Cuba is willing to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in fields of pharmaceuticals, health, etc. he expressed his hope to continously receive support and cooperation of Vietnam in field of agricultural development.
