In the evening of September 20, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong received Mr. Emil Karanikolov – Minister of Economy of the Republic of Bulgaria in his working visit to HCMC.
At the reception, Mr. Phong said the city always attaches the importance of establishing cooperation relations with Bulgaria. In 2015, HCMC has signed MOU with the Capital of Sofia, the establishment of Bulgaria Chamber of Commerce and Industry in HCMC in 2013 has presented a special attention to trade and investment cooperation between HCMC and Bulgaria.
Mr. Phong expressed his belief that HCMC-Bulgaria investment cooperation will be further developed after this visit. With both sides’ strength, HCMC hopes that Bulgaria will create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to export products to Bulgaria. HCMC is willing to play the role of linking bridge of logistics services for Bulgaria. The city will prioritize some key fields for Bulgarian investors including food processing and packaging, health, pharmaceutical, urban planning, renewable energy, IT.
Chairman Phong added HCMC sets a goal of building it into a smart city and creative urban area. Now the city is attracting domestic and international resources for these two projects. Therefore, with strengths of IT and being known as Silicon of Eastern Europe, Bulgaria will support for these projects.
Mr. Emil Karanikolov highly appreciated the development of the city and affirmed that tax exemption policy between Vietnam and European Union, once being implemented, will boost trade exchange between Vietnam and Bulgaria. He said that the first thing both sides need to do is the signing of trade cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria. He also affirmed that Bulgaria will surely offer special priorities to Vietnamese investors in Bulgaria in fields of tourism, culture, energy, etc.
