A report of Department of Planning and Investment said HCMC’s economy continued growing in the first 5 months of 2017, the goods market maintained stable with higher export value than that of the same period, making great contributions to the city’s common economic growth.
 
Specifically, total retail sales and service revenue in may was estimated at VND 74, 504.1 billion, up 0, 6% compared to previous month and up 9, 8% compared to the same period, while that of the first 5 months of 2017 reached VND 375, 158.4 billion, up 10, 5%.

Total export value of local businesses in May was estimated at US$ 3.18 billion, up 12 % compared to April and up 19, 5% compared to the same period while that of the first 5 months of 2017 reached US$ 14 billion, up 17.1% compared to the same period. If excluding crude oil, the export value was about US$ 12.8 billion, up 17.3%. In May, total import value stayed at US$ 3.6 billion, up 14% compared to the same period while that of the first 5 months of 2017 reached US$ 16.6 billion, up 18% compared to the same period.
 
The city’s industrial production enjoyed a significant increase meeting market’s demands. Agricultural production maintained stable. Domestic and foreign investment continued growing, total domestic registered investment capital was 2, 4 times as high as of the same period.

Total State’s budget revenue in May reached VND 141, 461 billion, equal to 42.39% of the planned target and up 18.4% compared to the same period. Total State’s budget spending in the first 5 months was estimated at VND 15, 445 billion, equal to 21.86% of the plan and down 11, 38% compared to the same period.
