HCMC to mobilize ethnic women of ethnic minorities to promote socio-economic development

On November 4, Ho Chi Minh City Women’s Union hosted a preliminary ceremony of 3 years of implementation of Resolution No 06 on mobilization of women of ethnic minorities, religious women and the summing up ceremony of coordination program between HCMC Women’s Union and Committee of Ethnic Affairs of HCMC.

 
In the last 3 years, HCMC Women’s Union at all levels has achieved positive results in mobilizing women of ethnic minorities and religious women. The Union has organized many activities for women of ethnic minorities and religious women such as “Nuns’ Day for social and charitable activities” which mobilized VND 500 million and gave over 1,300 gifts to poor patients; “Shining examples of women of ethnic minorities” honoring and praising over 200 women of ethnic minorities with contributions to movement for women’s full equality; “self-training program” for nuns, etc.



In addition, HCMC Women’s Union at all levels has actively advised the Party and local authority to do a good job in taking care of women of ethnic minorities and religious women by supporting capital and means of living worth VND 600 million. Moreover, HCMC Women’s Union also offers vocational training courses and employment services to women of ethnic minorities and religious women to get out of poverty sustainably, together with HCMC to carry out social security programs, improving living standard of local people in general and of women of minorities and religious women in particular.



Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Chairwoman of HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thu praised and acknowledged achievements of HCMC Women’s Union. She expressed her hope that HCMC Women’s Union at all levels would further strengthen propaganda activities on guidance and policies of the Party to help women of ethnic minorities, religious women to enhance awareness and to effectively implement policies and guidance of the Party, to live “good life, good religion”, to make positive contributions to the socio-economic development of the city.
