Attending the get together include Secretary of HCMC Party Committee Le Thanh Hai, Chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan, Chairwoman of People’s Council Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, President of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of HCMC Vo Thi Dung, members of HCMC Party Standing Committee, departments, sectors and typical writers and artists.

On the half of writers and artists, musician Ca Le Thuan, President of HCMC Union of Literature and Art Associations announced operation situations of literature and art in the last 40 years, its missions of writers and artists in construction and development of literature and art in the new stage.

HCMC Union of Literature and Art Associations- formerly Cultural Association of Liberation of Saigon-Gia Dinh Special Zone) – was established in December 1963. Till end of 2014 (7^th Congress), total amount of writers and artists of the Union is 5,303.

In the past years, the Union and member associations have organized many literature and art composing camps or field trips. From 2013 till now, the campaign of mobilizing literature and arts composing in response to the 40^th anniversary of liberation of Southern Vietnam and national reunification and the 125^th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh received over 500 writings, all have been assessed and awarded on April 30.

Speaking at the get together, People’s Artist Dang Hung expressed his appreciation for support and concern of leaders of HCMC, saying that HCMC is a launching pad for creativity of writers and artists.

Represented for generations of writers and artists after 1975, Eminent artist My Uyen expressed her pride of contributing a little effort in developing HCMC. She noted that HCMC is a bright spot of “stage socialization” and proposed a serious consideration of the concept of “socialization”, saying that “socialization” is not synonymous with self-sufficiency and survival but supported with policies. By doing so, stages in particular and arts and cultures in general can be able to complete important mission, of which education and orientation, not merely entertainment, are very important.

Addressing at the get together, Mr. Le Thanh Hai respectfully recognized and praised achievements and efforts of HCMC Union of Literature and Art Associations, writers and artists, saying that their contributions are very important for changes in social lives of HCMC.

In the last 40 years, writers and artists of HCMC has been continuing their creative work; giving birth of many writings related to humanity, patriotism, national affairs; reflecting real life,  revolutionary struggle and creative labor of people; constantly fostering values of cultural identities of the nation and cultural essence of the mankind; contributing to the development of personality, ideology, morality, good lifestyle. Literary and cultural products are very popular. Through these products, writers and artists affirmed new factors in reality, struggling and condemning evils, refuting wrong things and misconducts, developing the way of culture, literature, art of the Party.

Mr. Hai expressed his belief that writers and artists of HCMC will continue to work out many creative and practical products, making more effective contribution to the protection and development of HCMC, promoting culture, literature, art and building human.
